It’s true, Amazon is lowering prices at Whole Foods. When Amazon acquired Whole Foods, I wasn’t sure what the impact was going to be. Many people shop at Amazon not only for the convenience, but the lower prices. Would we start seeing lower prices at Whole Foods? If so, how long would it take for we can say Amazon is lowering prices at Whole Foods. To find out, I went to a local Whole Foods with Toni Okamoto from Plant Based on a Budget. If there is anyone who knows how to shop for great prices, it’s Toni! Let’s see how the new pricing at Whole Foods compares to other supermarkets.
AMAZON IS LOWERING PRICING AT WHOLE FOODS!
Once the Amazon purchase of Whole Foods became official, prices started dropping the next day, as much as 40% on some items. We walked the store to find just how many plant-based items have been reduced. First, we hit up the produce section and hit the jackpot. Apples, bananas, tomatoes, avocados and packaged salads all had new lower prices. We were really impressed with the new lower prices as many of the new lower prices at Whole Foods are now comparable to larger discount grocery stores. The bananas priced at $0.49 per pound is really impressive.
Next, we started walking around the store and found lower prices on other plant-based options, such as almond milk and peanut butter. It was also great to see so many of the items that have been reduced have completely sold out. This is a great sign. If we as consumers appreciate the new prices and increase demand for plant-based products. As a result, I think more items will be reduced in the future.
Finally, like many people, I’m excited to see that Amazon is lowering prices at Whole Foods for popular products. Big thanks to Toni Okamoto for joining my today. I can’t wait to see what the future hold for Whole Foods.
